First success of the year

January 4th, 2010 · 1 Comment

I finished the first draft of “Big Little Blonde” this morning, a story that vexed me last year. Again, poorly developed characters were the culprit and once I spent more time on their motivations, the story was easy to write. Tomorrow I’ll decide what story I want to work on next–I have many ideas to choose from. When I finish another draft, I’ll revise the two I’ve just finished. That ought to keep me occupied until just about time for Sleuthfest.

Happy Writing. I’m getting my manuscript ready to start the submission process. Query, synopses, proper formatting depending on guidelines. Ugh. But I’ve found Wordle.net makes some of the manuscript editing “fun” — at least it’s a good way to find those words that repeat. And repeat. And repeat.

I’ve got a couple of guest blog spots to do, and a couple of workshops to prepare for, which is good, because I don’t have a clue where to go next once I get into submission mode.

    See you at SleuthFest.
