Anticipation

Murder in the Grove is two weeks away and I’m getting excited about it. I’m eager to see some of the people from last year who will be there again, and I can hardly wait to meet David Morrell. I’m sure his class on “Writing the Thriller” is going to be a huge help to me in plotting my next novel.

I entered SHE in the Murder in the Grove novel contest and got my scores back last week. Though one judge gave me 158 out of 160 possible points, the others were low enough that I doubt I’ve come close to winning. However, the comments I got were very valuable, and seeking feedback was the main reason I entered in the first place. The one thing all three judges agreed on was that I didn’t introduce the main villain early enough. Which Carolyn had already told me. C’est la vie. She suggested a couple ways I could insert scenes that would accomplish that. Although I finished the polish draft yesterday, the new material will be easy to write and insert without disrupting anything, so I’ll take care of that before I head to the conference.
